I am slowly (but surely) updating all of the Tampa Bay area disc golf course pages on Scottunes. Things change pretty fast at times, not fast enough others. Limona Park has matured into an enjoyable locale for disc golfers. Relative to the flat Pinellas County courses this one is has hills! Elevation changes - any changes for that matter - are welcome not only for the extra workout but to broaden horizons, and be better prepared for like courses up north. We've played this course several times since the post below. The Billy Goat Disc Golf club is keeping it fresh, well-marked, occasionally changing up pole positions. This all makes for fun throwing!

[Earlier posting ca Feb 2007]
Having played this course for the third time (Superbowl Sunday '07 - Go Colts!) I can tell you, someone has done their homework. Limona Park is now an 18-holer! Mats have been laid away from the original poured tess to allow each hole to have an alternate tee. In effect... 18 holes! Some of them are much further out than their conterparts, and that makes for some real gorilla holes, but it also breaks up the regular holes nicely and makes the course more interesting.
Another tricky thing they've done is utilitze muliple basket (pin) locations, which also tends to afford some variety. Many had been moved so on Superbowl Sunday when we threw it was like playing a new course. Bravo!
Many of the shots in the array to follow were originally captured on Saturday, September 25th, 2006, just prior to attending the Foghat, Foreigner, Styx concert at the Ford Ampitheater at the Fairgrounds in Tampa. Good gig.

About the course: In 2006 this course opened in Brandon. Nicely groomed and maintained. It is economically engineered -- each basket is close to the next tee. We only noticed one "Am" tee (but didn't play it), only a couple holes are very long. Great signage:

A little elevation change (for Florida). Well laid-out and artfully appointed. Formal cement tee pads. Not bad at all. No facilities, no public water fountain, which is usually nice. Brandon is forty minutes from Clearwater on a good day, but is five or ten minutes from our disc pal, Lee. It's in a safe neighborhood a few minutes off of Interstate 75. Enjoy.

Jeff's first time.
