In 2002, just in time for the construction of our beloved Cliff Stephens Park a nine-hole course was established in Dunedin! It has been sliced out of a field at the west end of the park, has some intriguing challenges, and it is fun. Watch for the thorns in the underbrush. On a busy day there can be a problem, some holes have a bit of overlap.
This park sports nine holes packed rather neatly into a fairly small, but nicely bordered, grassy area. There are good right-hand and left-hand holes. It's a little tough to find for someone from out-of-town (click on the picture below for a map), but once you do it gives you what one loves about a good course -- a challenge. If there are more than three groups playing, there's some waiting, and it's especially annoying when groups try to play the "alternate" variations, but because of this, Hammock Park usually isn't too crowded. Well-marked for the most part, there has been a little vandalism to the posts.

Update: This park has slipped from a 3.5 to a 2.5 in the past year or so. One reason is the jerks that play aforementioned "alternate" holes -- they are constantly shooting at you (or visa versa). The hole 2 basket was either destroyed or stolen, and they've only replaced it with this rickety wooden piece 'o crap. Granted, it's a pretty easy par 2 on a normal day, but you had better be within 3-5 feet if you want to be able to lay it up on the wood basket bottom.
Without good baskets this sport is rather ludicrous.
