Yes, I like beer.

But this is a shrine to beer by no means, but it is an homage; a reference page for those who find beer a singularly unique beverage. Here's my conclusion: I'd sooner drink a beer cold but the beer I prefer still tastes good at room temperature, sometimes hours later.
I was exposed to home beer and ale in the seventies, lovingly brewed by attentive, tasteful people. Beer is a drink not merely to be guzzled -- though it can be guzzled -- but to be savored. Historically, Europeans mock our beer, and until recently, perhaps, for good reason. The American beer conglomerations don't seem to get it: Just because it's for the masses doesn't mean it needs to be brewed any less than first rate. Homogenization is for milk. Or is it pasteurization?
NO FRUIT IN BEER
A lemon is appropriate for some beers, although that is reportedly a trend that was meant to keep the flies away. But no fruit. [Later note] Okay, having had a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Summer Ale, I guess I'll have to say I'm amending that. However, I don't ever need an actual lime with my beer.
Beer is an acquired taste, a drink with personality and vivance. Whoever thought up beermaking must have been a madman. God bless him, or her. No... him.

My friend John H. inspired me to take a more active hand in my beer page. I come to find that a big contributor (indirectly) has gone the "way of the world", and indeed bigfy.com (beer is good for you) is A DEAD LINK! :'(
Anyway, this month's beer is dedicated to John. Let's tip one soon:
Beer of the Month - Flying Dog Garde Dog
My top 10 favorite beers. This list is arbitrary and doesn't particularly count ultra-expensive microbrewery beer available only at rare beer stores or on site, but it does include a couple 'honorable mentions'.
Great Divide Hiberation Ale (Denver, CO)
Flying Dog Snakedog IPA (Denver, CO)
Samuel Adams Boston Lager (Boston, MA)
Dunedin Red, Dunedin Brewery (Dunedin, FL)
Red Hook Amber/Pale Ale (Seattle, WA)
Ybor Gold (Tampa, FL -- now made elsewhere?!)
Negra Modelo (Mexico)
Dogwood Pale Ale (Atlanta, GA)
Beck's Dark (Germany)
Micholob Amber Bock (US)
