This web page celebrates travel destinations, city or country, particularly travel WITHIN the United States and Canada. As a software specialist for ISPA, Inc., I travel around the states a lot. That's how I am able to visit so many disc golf courses. What's disc golf?

If you're going to the Los Angeles area, check out tvtix.com for tickets to something that is being filmed in or around "Hollywood". Almost every day (except the two weeks around the end of the year). Leno, Game Shows, Dr. Phil...
Here's my parking stub from my 2000 visit to a Tuesday night taping of "Third Rock from the Sun", which was a hoot and a holler. It was enjoyable to watch professionals at work, see the inner workings of a studio production and be a part of it, too. John Lithgow was the consumate performer. That following Saturday morning [mol] I went to be a part of the taping of 3 episodes of "Hollywood Squares", while Whoopy was still the center square. I strongly recommend doing something like this -- it's free!!

Forget the glitter. Take Mulholland into the Hollywood hills.

Several years ago we spent nine days in southern and central California. A trip to remember! Hollywood was on hiatus, so we missed seeing any TV tapings. But we got a feel for 'er. We stayed on the Queen Mary (Long Beach) one night, and in Sherman Oaks for a couple more. Later in the week, we drove up the coast, through Santa Barbara and spent a night in San Luis Obispo, where we saw the first "Lord of the Rings" at the classy Fremont Theatre. The next day after our first cyber-cafe, we got back on SR 1 (Cabrillo Hwy). The sea elephants were whelping near the Hearst mansion.

| Once past Morro Bay we're on our way north to Big Sur and Monterey. Phenominal stretch of road! There was a light rain, and the slippery road and four-cylinder rental were enough to make Daddy nuts. And I was on the inside lane.
Here's what AAA says: "... a moderately slow coast road offering spectacular scenery; with stands of redwoods, pine and scrub brush. Between Big Sur and San Simeon, SR 1 traverses over-hanging precipitous cliffs. Northbound land hugs the inside of the highway providing a feeling of greater security for a more pleasant trip."
Nancy was too scared to drive much at all. Oh, by the way -- didn't you know? -- December is the rainy season up the California coast. |
